Is this sentence right?


I am a cartoonist and now writing children's books

You have two complete thoughts in one sentence.  It is better to include a subject with the second complete thought and use a comma before the 'and'.  

"I am a cartoonist, and I am now writing children's books."

I am a cartoonist and a writer for children's books.
