Authorisation vs Authorization

0

It is my understanding that "authorisation" is the British spelling, whereas "authorization" is the American spelling.

I have my Grammarly set to use British English, but in Microsoft Word, it complains about "authorisation" - the message reads "The word authorisation doesn't seem to fit this context."

Is my understanding wrong or is this a bug in the system?

Many people believe this. In fact, while -ise/-isation is the preferred spelling of many speakers of BrE, The Oxford University Press and dictionaries prefer the -ize/-ization forms.
