Comma use


I can't find anything wrong with this sentence.

See example:

After collecting our Associateship certificates at the school office, we just bade farewell to friends and colleagues, and left for distant lands.

You do not need the comma after 'colleagues' because 'left for distant lands' is not a complete thought.
