Should you capitalize a proper name which has been contracted with an initial apostrophe?

My friend is a fan of the group "The Aquabats". On their television show, they frequently refer to themselves by the contracted moniker "The 'bats". My question is, should this be written with a capital or lowercase B? It's still a proper name, but the true initial letter is being replaced by the apostrophe. Is there a convention for this?
