the best or best? Is it clear?

"Your program could address my research interests the best." Is this sentence clear in meaning? Should I use "the best" or "best"? Thank you very much.

Ewwwwwwwwww.  No, this is not clear.

Don't worry about "best" vs "the best" so much as where you have it placed--that is what is mucking up the water.

"Your program could best address my research interests."

Try that baby on for size!
