Which word should I choose, has or have?

None of the missing items has/have been found.

Also please explain why.

If none is used as subject, it is mandatory to know the noun/pronoun none is used for and use the verb accordingly.

I have ordered milk but none has come.

I wished to buy some books on Gandhi but none are available at the store.
