Dear all,

Could I say: "He plays best in the team."

I asked since I'd thought that BEST is superlatiu of WELL.

Thank you

You could say that,  but the meaning would probably be that he plays best when he is in the team.  Perhaps you mean that "he is the best (player) in the team".

Yes, "best" is a superlative of  "well" {and "good"). Does that answer your question?

Yes, It's what I meant.I wanted to use adverb instead of adjective. Thanks for your help.

I would add that it's always better to add the article 'the' when using the superlative. Sometimes our written language too easily slavishly mirrors our spoken language (where 'the' is often not used).

Thanks. But how can we use THE with the adverb? We could say: He is the best player. but could not say: He plays the best. Is it right? (If we say like this it becomes different meaning. It's almost like: He tries his best).
