In the sentence below, I do not believe that the word "she" should be captilized (though I am being told otherwise).

"So what is it that motivates you? she asked.

See example: she asked.

I think the issue here is that you haven't written the closing quotation marks.  Without them, the Editor thinks that you are starting a new sentence. See below:


"So, what is it that motivates you?" she asked.
