Parallelism With Either… Or
When you’re using a correlative conjunction, be sure to use the same word form after each of the conjunctions. Remember to not to repeat any words that come before either.
When it rains, people either stay home or going to the shopping mall.
When it rains, people either stay home or go to the shopping mall.
Tonight, I’ll either finish reading my novel or I’ll be going swimming.
Because of the placement of either (after I will), the two verbs need to be in the same tense. There’s no need to repeat I will.
Tonight, I’ll either finish reading my novel or go swimming.
Employees can wear either the polo shirt or they can wear the long-sleeved pullover.
Employees can wear either the polo shirt or the long-sleeved pullover.
