Have you ever had an incredible, awesome idea, and then someone stole it and took all the kudos? Have you ever done all the work on a joint project but the other person got the marks for it? Have you ever said something, but then someone else twisted your words around or took it out of context and you ended up looking like a fool?
That’s why you have to document everything: it protects both you and the person you’re quoting.
