Definition

Most academic texts require a definition at some point. The definition can be a three-word sentence, or it can be the premise of the entire text (the thesis). So that the reader understands immediately, the definition will be found at the beginning of the text or the paragraph.

Discombobulated means confused or disoriented.

Defining the term society involves observing the people involved in that particular group, the way those people behave, and the way the group interacts with other groups.
