Answering the Opposition in a Persuasive Essay
You need to consider the following: Is your writer aware of the arguments of the opposition? Are the opposition’s arguments strong? Can answering the opposition’s arguments be used to strengthen my position.
If you answer yes to any of these, you will want to consider listing the opposing points and finding forceful ways to answer them. So where in the essay does this come? Again, it depends on the essay. Beginning with answers to the competition can be very forceful, especially if you feel that those opposing points are well-known by your readers. Getting them out of the way early works in your favor in this case. If you feel that answering them will strengthen your position, it’s wise to include them in your conclusion.
