The Body of the Persuasive Essay
The body of the essay is to support your thesis and gain acceptance or persuade the reader to act. Asking the questions how? or why? is particularly useful in the persuasive essay.
Examples:
(1) Extending tax credits for the wealthy will improve the country’s economy. How?
Subpoint 1: Wealthy people spend more money, which will stimulate the economy.
Subpoint 2: Wealthy people will hire more workers, which will stimulate the economy.
(2) Vote for John Jones for governor. Why?
Subpoint 1: His policies will stimulate the economy.
Subpoint 2: He is not controlled by wealthy lobbyists.
