Am and ride are both verbs.  You only need one.

Am is a form of be, meaning there is a state of being.  I am a woman.  He is a teacher.  They are in the car.

You can make the verb ride into a gerund by adding "ing" to the end.  Then, it can be part of the verb phrase "am riding."

I am a horse.  Perhaps you are in the school play, and the part you play is a horse.

I am riding a horse.  You currently are doing this activity.

I ride a horse.  You do this activity from time to time, but not necessarily at this moment.
