Punctuation within a sentence
Is the punctuation within this sentence correct? Do you have suggestions on how to improve this statement?
See example:
The task force also examined the accreditation standards, in addition to the COA and AACN ), of all the applicable accrediting bodies necessary for this transition to a doctorate.

I have two comments:
(1) You have used a parenthetical phrase -- "in addition to the COA and AACN." This sort of phrase is either set off with commas (as you have) or with parentheses marks (as you added after AACN) -- but not both. Delete the ")" after AACN and your sentence will be correctly punctuated.
(2) The word "doctorate" alone does not jibe with the context of the overall sentence. I suspect you mean "doctoral program."
I hope this helps.
