People don't realise that it is making them unhealthy and can lead to several problems in their lives such as obesity and unsociable behaviour, the reason is that television can be quite addictive for some people.

Zack, a comma sets apart different parts of a sentence.  You can find a great amount of information on the comma here: http://www.grammarly.com/handbook/punctuation/comma/

 

In your example sentence, the comma should be a period to end the sentence and start a new one.
