is it rosy or rosey?

See example:

His cheeks are rosy, and he has a small smile on his face.

Rosy

For some reason, however, we associate the adjective little with smile rather than small.

Or maybe "slight".

Yep

Big/little/slight smile
Big/little/huge/broad grin
Deep frown
Little/slight nod
Little/slight/big shake of the head
Little/big/huge yawn

Are there any that do take "small"? Why don't we use "small" to describe facial expressions?
