Adverb/Adjective Question

0

Grammerly has suggested that ‘hourly’, as used in the following sentence, is an adjective and recommends that I use an adverb to modify ‘collected’.

“From this point, samples were collected hourly for later analysis.”

It seems to me that ‘hourly’ is an adverb correctly modifying the verb ‘collected’.  Any help clarifying this issue would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jeff

Jeff,

I'm not sure why Grammarly caught that as incorrect, but you are correct.  'Hourly' works fine here; though it may be clearer to say 'each hour'.
