You're correct; this sentence sounds incorrect, but I'm not sure what precisely you intend by each phrase. Could you break it down for us?

Correcting the grammar in your sentence, you would get:

Sorry is determined by actions, is overused, and becomes a consequence of a misunderstanding of the word forgiveness.

However, mysticete is right—your intended meaning is not clear. Let's assume these are the ideas you are trying to present.

  1. Sorrow is indicated by actions (rather than words)
  2. The word sorry is overused
  3. Forgiveness is not "taken" by use of a password (sorry), but rather given by somebody else.

Now it's up to you to put that into a sentence . . .

Completely missed that first one. You're correct, T'Anna must have meant "indicated" instead of "determined." Still not sure about that last one though.
