how do i fix this

The growing army of the unemployed, numbering over 11.1 million, was nearly 50 percent larger in 2007 than at the start of the recession a year later.
1) I added numbering to make the clause fit better into the sentence.
2) You should add 'in 2007' because the time period is unclear, which makes the comparison confusing.
3) You don't need a space before the period.
