Tolley's answer provides an excellent revised sentence, but he didn't tell you about the incomplete comparison in your original sentence.
When you use "more," you are making a comparison. This is more than that. But your sentence did not tell us what was being compared. Notice how Tolley added "more often than girls." His sentence completes the comparison.
