Almost correct. However, "team" is a collective noun, so even though it represents more than one person, the verb should be singular.

For that reason, the team is empowered to make the decision when they are interacting with customers.

Also, I assume you have said earlier what "the decision" is. If you are speaking generally about any decision, you should make "decision" plural:

For that reason, the team is empowered to make decisions when they are interacting with customers.
