Leave it to wedding invitations to cause such a ruckus. And can be placed between the bride and groom's names depending on the wording of the invitation.
Miss Mary Jones and Mr. John Smith together with their parents. . .
Miss Mary Jones and Mr. John Smith request the honour of your presence. . .
In Lewis's example, I would use to. I'm with Tolley on the ambiguity of my son John and Mary.
My parents must have missed the memo that they were supposed to send my wedding invitations.
