What is the difference between the two?

Ben Franklin "discovered" electricity, but he didn't "invent" it. (might not be fatcually true, but you get the point, right?)

 

Sir Isaac Newton did not "invent" gravity, he observed it. (Some say he discovered it, but I think someone must have dropped something before Newton ever lived... thus "discovering" gravity)
