do you spell out 2 in beta 2 agonist

Should you spell out 2 in beta 2 agonist? I made 2 subscript but grammarly won't pass it. However, its a pharmacology name...

See example:

Long-acting beta 2 agonist are in this category and sometimes used before exercise to prevent exacerbation and last about 12 hours (Arcangelo & Peterson, 2013).

I would write it exactly the same way that Arcangelo & Peterson did. No spell checker will have a full list of every proper noun under the sun.
