Lesser of Two Evils - Any Suggestions
I try to avoid awkward constructions such as "that the" and "had had". I also try to avoid passive constructions when a perfectly good actor is available. In the following samples, I find I'm having to chose between one or the other. Does anyone have a third option?
"However, Vizcaíno did chart the coastline with such precision that his maps were used by the Spanish until 1790." (passive voice)
"However, Vizcaíno did chart the coastline with such precision that the Spanish used his maps until 1790." (that the)
