Proper spelling of a word

I would like to ask what the proper spelling of a word is and why.

Is the word antithetical or anti-thetical?

None of the online dictionaries I checked used a hyphen.  Online dictionaries are a great resource, and they can eliminate the time waiting for someone else to look up a word to answer your question.

That is what I thought. However, I saw it spelt with a hyphen in an online forum. This lead me to question my knowledge of the spelling of the word. I referred to several dictionaries to make sure I was not losing my mind and came to the same conclusion. However, I am not an English major and decided it would not hurt to ask others about the spelling of the word.

I'm not sure why agreeing with a dictionary would lead you to question your sanity. Instead, it should confirm that finding something on the Internet does NOT mean it is accurate. When you want to know how to spell a word, a dictionary is the best resource.
