A dictionary is a wonderful resource.  When you look up both of these words in the dictionary, you will find a long list of how each word is used.  I prefer as a handy online dictionary, but there are others.  When you are writing and unsure of a word for the context, look in the dictionary.  If it doesn't quite fit, but you aren't sure of the word you need, a thesaurus is another great tool.
