capitalization of "president"

Do I capitalize president in this sentence: I know it would if it said President John Doe, or if we were talking about general company presidents, but I'm wondering because this is referring to a specific president whether it needs to be capitalized.

John Doe, president and CEO of xyz company, has been leading his team . .

President has to be capitalized.

John Doe, President and CEO of xyz company, has been leading his team .

"If no specific individual is referred to, do not capitalize titles of even very high ranking government officials."
