subject-verb agreement


Program says "was" should be changed to "were," but "was" is correct to agree with the subject, which is "period."

See example:

The period during which Paul wrote his letters was traumatic for the new church.

The software is assuming the closest noun, letters, is the subject. Your sentence is correct.
