This sentence is fine, Marie. I don't understand your question, however.

It's a continuing cycle that keeps getting worse with every generation.

I suspect that you are looking for extensive help for writing a research paper, including topics such as proper citation, how to quote short and long passages, and how to paraphrase.  Your school or instructor has likely noted which style manual should be followed for all research papers.  For the first two questions (citation and quoting) refer to your style manual.  To learn how to paraphrase, type "how to paraphrase" in your search engine. I have found several very useful sites that teach how to paraphrase.  Another idea is to check with your school's guidance office or library for tutoring services.  Many schools provide writing assistance for free.  Extensive teaching or tutoring is beyond the scope of this forum.
