Difference between Shift and transfer

In India, People get confused while using shift and transfer. For instance; The shop is shifted to the next building.  How can the shop be shifted to the next building? The people in the shop move to the next building.  Please throw some light on the usage of shift and transfer in the different context.

I am doing my MBA(Indianism). Is it correct? or do we have to say, " I am studying MBA."
