Plz, check out this sentence again

I would like to make sure if this sentence is correct in meaning and grammar,

"Maybe we should have started studying when we were younger."

I have found that sentence above and then is the following sentence also correct in meaning and grammar?

"When we were younger, I would have done anything to be with her."

I think the sentence makes sense, doesn't it? What do you experts think? Here is a script I got the sentence from. Thank you so much and have a good day.

(in a movie, Song For You)

Arthur: I know you all loved Marian and when we were younger, I would have done anything to be with her and share something like this with all of you.

Elizabeth: You don't have to do this in front of everyone, Arthur.

Arthur: No, I am sorry for how I have been.
