What is the difference between Can I come in and May I come in and shall I come in?
Here are a couple examples of the difference between can (ability), may (permission), and shall (advisable).
I found your car keys on the table. Can I drive away with your car?
You can, but you may not. Shall I call the police?
May I walk across the tightrope?
You may try, but I don't know if you can. Shall I put a net underneath?
