I'm writing a paper and wondering if this sentence makes sense. (I haven't been in school for 6 yrs)

"After reading her food journals, I can see why consequently she may be having a lot of these digestive and skin problems. "

The position of 'consequently' in this sentence is awkward. I would move it or omit it altogether.

I tried it in a couple of different places, and omission is the best option.

After reading her food journals, I can see why she may be having a lot of these digestive and skin problems.

I agree with Lewis.  The reader can infer that the problems were a consequence of her eating habits.
