If you are writing a line of speech using the local dialect and the word  - av - instead of have is used I know general rule that a comma for ommitted letters but would you use an apostrophe both ends if two ommitted letters as in  'av' ?

I've usually seen this written as 'ave for a Cockney-like accent or hae for a Scottish accent. I would leave the 'e' on the end.
