What is the difference between 'The committee have decided' and 'The committee has decided'?

One is correct. 'Committee' is a singular noun, and singular nouns use a singular verb.


The committee has decided.

Plural verb can also be used with the word committee, if it's members are addressed.


The committee were divided in their opinions.
