Commas after introductory phrases
I have a problem with commas after introductory phrases in the following example: “There I was sitting on a toilet holding my beautiful, brand new and gooey baby, laughing hysterically like a crazy person.”

Put a comma after "was." You also need to split up "toilet" and "holding" somehow, either with another comma (which might fragment the sentence too much) or the word "and."
“There I was, sitting on a toilet and holding my beautiful, brand new and gooey baby, laughing hysterically like a crazy person.”
