'Premise',n. in its three connotations

Premise n. ; also premiss for sense 1. a. A proposition on which an argument is based or from which a conclusion is drawn.  b. Logic. One of the first two propositions (major or minor) of a syllogism, from which the conclusion is drawn.  2. Plural .Law.  3. Plural. Land & the buildings upon it.

premised. v. , -ising,  -ises  1. To state in advance as introduction or explanation 2. To state or assume an argument.  - intr. to make a premise

The noun form is often mispronounced, ( 'prem-ice' or 'prem-ized') as against the correct, 'prem-iss'. The verb form is pronounced 'pre-mm-iss' or prim-ize.
