-the police are looking into the case.

This one is fine, but you should get in the habit of always capitalizing the first word in a sentence and endi with a punctuation mark.

The police are looking into the matter.

-he was the best of all other leaders.

I would write this: He was the best of all the other leaders.

-he is more cleverer than his brother.

You make an adjective a comparison by adding -er or using more. You never use both. 'Cleverer' with the two 'er' syllables is awkward to say, so I would use more.

He is more clever than his brother.

-he is a man of his words.

Just 'word', with no 's'.

He is a man of his word.

-what is the last news.

What is the latest news.
