Diagramming
I am not sure how to diagram the complex compound sentence and would like help.
See example:
Lincoln, our 16th president, will always remain the one who helped destroy slavery and preserved the Union, and because of his accomplishments, his reputation is sacrosanct.

Sorry I can't help you Kris. I suppose diagramming is a certain method of teaching grammar. Perhaps I am dating myself, but I've never heard of this method. Does your textbook have instruction on how to do it?
