I have a problem with article use in the following example: “If every family kept charge of their own food for their families, then there would not be any problems.”
I don't see a problem with your articles, but your pronoun is faulty and there seems to be extra words that doesn't need to be there. The noun "family" is singular, so the pronoun must be singular as well: "its own food," not "their own food." I don't think "for their families" needs to be in that sentence.
"If every family kept charge of its own food, then there would not be any problems."
