"Art involves more than knowing how to draw, paint or mold clay" - sounds better to me. What do others think?

I agree, Wiktor, that using 'involves' makes it that much clearer. Another option: Learning about art/Studying art/Knowing art is more than... It all depends on what you want to mean when you say 'art'.
add commentI agree with Wiktor. Changing "is" to "involves" seems to add more emphasis.
