whats is wrong w/ this according to APA formate?

In Samuriwos' research the nurses verbalized that the first time they saw a pressure ulcer they were stunned, and they recognized they were ignorant regarding the etiology, care and prevention of pressure ulcers.

'Verbalised' is odd. Better to say 'stated'.
APA format really refers to how you present the paper, references , bibliography and so on, not so much the grammar, syntax and vocabulary.

Comma after 'research', I think, especially because it is has a couple clauses.
