Oxen is the plural of ox (unlike foxes which is the plural of fox). Unfortunately, many nouns do not simply take an s or es to become plural. There are many irregular plurals in the English language.
Exs: child-children, goose-geese, wolf-wolves, leaf-leaves
Wolf and leaf do require es, but only after the f has been replaced with a v.
Fish, sheep and deer are a few examples of words that stay the same for both singular and plural forms.
