What is the difference between can and could?

Can is a sense of reality. So when you say something "can," you mean to say that it is currently doable. Could has the weight of fantasy, like "possible." So when you say "could," you mean to say that it is possible but there's usually some unsaid clause to make that possible.

 

For example, let's say you want to watch TV and you have a television. Well in that case, you CAN watch TV because you have a television. If you didn't, you'd say "We COULD watch TV (if we had a television)."

Iamnot sure but I guess at can it is a Auxiliary verb and could is  the canverb comer.
