Confusion over the Verb tense in a sentence

0

Hi there:

Can anyone tell me if the following tense of the sentence is correct?

If i use a past tense "studied" first, can i still use the present perfect tense "has learnt" later or others? Thanks for your help

But, during the time he studied independently at Athenian, he has gradually learnt to take into account all subjects, and as a result his performance improved evenly among all courses.

You should keep the tense the same throughout.

During the time he studied independently at Athenian, he gradually learned to take into account all subjects.  As a result, his performance improved evenly among all courses.
