I was hoping someone could help me understand why in "something different" the adjective goes afterwards. Usully I see before nouns etc. Also i am confused of what kind of part of the speech everything/anything is? Thank you

Something, everything and anything are all indefinite pronouns.  When modifying indefinite pronouns, the rule is that the adjective phrase follows the indefinite pronoun.
