which one is correct? a dot "al." after al or without dot after al"al".

(Beyrer et al., 2010) is correct assuming you are citing in APA.
Remember that if there are 3-5 authors, you list them all in the first citation but in subsequent citations you only list the last name of the first author followed by et al..
If there are 6 plus authors, you always use the et al. and never write out all of the authors' names.
