Grammar
I'm confused whether I can make it in the active voice and write, "pain feels double", or just leave it like that.
See example:
Pain is felt double when it is your loved one who suffers.

Hosam,
You can't make this sentence active voice without a clear subject doing the action.
"One feels pain doubly . . ." would be the best way to write it, but it doesn't flow as well in active voice.
Because passive voice is not incorrect grammar, and it does have a place in effective writing, I suggest leaving the sentence the way you have it.

Thank you so much for the answer! I will just leave it the way I had it then.
